Engineering work begins with a defined boundary.

The scope, evidence, responsibilities, and acceptance conditions are agreed before substantive work begins.

Scope	Each engagement is governed by agreed responsibilities, assumptions, exclusions, deliverables, schedule, and acceptance conditions.
Evidence	Findings depend on the requirements, hardware, software, measurements, records, and access available during the work.
Standards and certification	Standards-informed methods are not presented as certification, regulatory approval, or professional licensure unless those services are expressly included and performed by the appropriate authority.
Public records	Engineering records illustrate completed technical work. They are not guarantees of production readiness, certification, long-term reliability, or a particular result in another system.
